Is it time for a Family Reunion?

  • February 10, 2020

When was the last time you saw all your family members? Is your family spread out, living in different cities, states, countries? Do you have a new baby, nephew, niece, grandchild? Maybe it’s time to get everyone together to celebrate, see each other again, or get to know each other.

Breckenridge is a perfect place for a Family Reunion due to it’s proximity to DIA. It is located in the magnificent Rocky Mountains. Breckenridge offers great activities for every generation of your family.

But first, you probably want to scout out a place for everyone to stay and to gather. The Wedgewood Lodge is the perfect place for reunions of any kind and size!

Our lodging ranges from studios to 3-bedroom townhomes, which offers ideal accommodations for every size of family. All kitchens are fully equipped so that you can easily do any sort of pot luck. We even have oversized pots and slow cooker for your use!

If you want to barbecue, two grills are available for your use on our beautiful deck. You’ll enjoy the amazing views of Baldy Mountain while having a cocktail, grilling up some goodness and watching the children play.

We also have a wonderful meeting space available for your gatherings. Our Eagle’s Nest room, which accommodates up to a 120 people comfortably, is the perfect setting for your gatherings and the grills are just outside the room.

There are two hot tubs on property and our guests have access to a pool, which is located just a couple of blocks from Wedgewood.

If you want to go shopping or eat out, Main Street is an easy walk down the hill. And you can skip the walk back up by hopping on the free town bus to the Snowflake Lift across the street. There are many fabulous restaurants to choose from and you’ll find something for everyone!

Now let’s talk about some of the awesome activities that Breckenridge has to offer:

We’ll start with one of our favorite things to do in Breckenridge: Hiking. It is free, it connects you with nature, and is great exercise. There are many trails to choose from, from easy, to moderate to difficult. And for the super adventurous in your family, we’re in the heart of “Fourteener” country!

Biking is also very popular. Whether you want to road bike or mountain bike, rent your bike at Charter Sports to receive a discount when staying at the Wedgewood Lodge. Do you want to do all the work yourself? If not, schedule a van to take you to the top of Vail Pass, so you can enjoy incredible views while gliding down towards Copper Mountain & Frisco.

Whitewater Rafting is another much sought-after activity in the Colorado Rockies. We love Performance Tours, which has been voted “Best Rafting Company” seven times.

Horseback Riding – let your horse do the walking. Trail rides last from one to two hours and breakfast rides are also available.

Fly Fishing is a wonderful way to spend the day! Hire a guide to show you how to work that fly and enjoy a relaxing day on the river.

A great way to spend some time and to learn about the history of Breckenridge is on a Historical Walking Tour! There are several tours available, from ghost tours, tea tours and more.

Golfing – this 27 holes course was designed by Jack Nicklaus. If you are into golf, you really need to reserve some tee time on this breathtaking place, and swing your golf clubs.

If you are a Yogini, you should give SUP-Yoga a try. Stand up Paddleboard Yoga is lots of fun, challenging and relaxing. Yoga on the water challenges you in many ways, and being surrounded by water and the mountains gives this type of yoga a different dimension.

Gold Panning and Gold Mine Tours are a great way to experience the gold rush when people flocked to Colorado to strike it rich. Go hundreds of feet underground into a working mine and re-live a typical day in the life of a miner. The Country Boy Mine is a great place to go and enjoy an original Breckenridge mining experience!

Hopefully we will see you and your family very soon!

I found the perfect place! the staff was wonderful! 16 people checking in over 2 days and checking out over 2 days and we had zero issues. Thank you so much, I cannot wait to visit again”
